    Agricultural Center & Workshop

Our small Pangu farm is about 15 km from our Lightray Uganda Limited project. Why? Because the land there is cheaper and more fertile. On our farm we have planted teak, pine and fruit trees, run a small chicken farm and try to grow many different types of vegetables ourselves. However, the entire harvest only supports the amount needed for our entire light beam project. For our older sponsor kids it is a real highlight to be able to work on the farm during the school holidays. No, don’t worry, that doesn’t mean child labor, but rather learning landscape knowledge under local conditions. The experience you gain will help you in your future, as most people in northern Uganda survive on agriculture.

    Workshop

Many buildings, many people, many small and large repair jobs. That’s why we built our own small workshop area in order to minimize our expenses by using the project’s own craftsmen. For this purpose, we primarily trained our Lichtstrahl young people in various trades. Due to The long-standing civil war in the northern part of Uganda, Uganda’s education infrastructure has been significantly compromised, leaving many young people without education or training. That’s why promoting crafts and vocational training programs is particularly important to us because they are an important step in combating youth unemployment.
